Buying Condoms in Nigeria: Price, Size and Storage

Buying condoms in Nigeria is easier when you compare the exact product, rather than the colour of the box. Check the pack count, material, size information, expiry date and seal. Then compare the delivered price for the same version.

Condom sizes, brand names and price all matter to a purchase, but none replaces the instructions on the packet. This guide covers what to check at a pharmacy or online, including the questions a good listing should answer.

Condom prices: compare the same pack

A three-pack and a larger box may use nearly identical photographs. Before comparing a Durex listing with another brand, confirm the number of condoms, the product version and the total including delivery. A familiar logo does not tell you what is in the parcel.

For a simple comparison, divide the pack price by the quantity. A hypothetical three-pack at ₦1,500 is ₦500 per condom; a hypothetical twelve-pack at ₦5,400 is ₦450 each. These are worked examples, not verified current prices or an offer from 18plus.

Ask for the expiry information and a clear view of the packaging. A seller's rating cannot establish the condition of the particular pack you receive. If the title and photograph name different products, get that discrepancy resolved before ordering.

Read the size and material information

Check the size information supplied by the manufacturer for the exact version. Do not assume that descriptions such as regular or large are enough to compare different brands. If a condom repeatedly slips or feels uncomfortably tight, ask a pharmacist about suitable options and correct use.

Latex-free condoms are an option for people who need to avoid latex; confirm the material on the box. Product names alone can be misleading. Keep the packet instructions available rather than relying on a remembered tip from somebody else's purchase.

Check expiry, packaging and storage

Read the storage directions and inspect the individual packet before use. A product that arrived sealed still needs appropriate storage afterwards. Choose somewhere that meets the manufacturer's instructions and avoids unnecessary heat or damage; a car or a pocket full of sharp objects is not a sensible permanent home.

The NHS condom guide advises checking the expiry date, using a new condom each time and following the packet instructions. It also warns against using two condoms together. Keep the original information with the product instead of separating it from the instructions as soon as you get home.

Check lubricant compatibility too
